Voith Hydro has equipped two complete energy models (5 and 6) for the Changlongshan pumped storage plant in eastern China.

Earlier this month, unit 5 efficiently handed a 15-day trial operation and was formally put into industrial operation. It is the world’s first reversible pumped storage unit with a rated pace of 600 r/min and a capacity of 350 MW. There are six models installed in complete on the 2.1 GW Changlongshan station located in Zhejiang Province.
Voith says that the efficiency of unit 5 acquired excellent feedback from the homeowners and consultants within the business.
“The knowledge confirmed that the unit meets our excellence criteria and thereby proves that the engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the world’s first 600 r/min with 350 MW unit was profitable,” mentioned Zhang Chengping, mechanical and electrical chief engineer at plant operator the China Three Gorges Group (CTG).
